Some Stories Deserve To Survive
Before you spend much time here, there’s something we’d like you to understand.

This website isn’t being rebuilt for financial gain. It isn’t a business venture, a marketing project, or an attempt to capitalize on nostalgia. There are no investors, no corporate plans, and no strategy designed to turn memories into revenue. If you’ve found your way here expecting that, you’ll probably be disappointed.  That’s simply not why this exists.

More than thirty years have passed since slavecamlive.com first appeared on the internet. In that time, the web has changed almost beyond recognition. Websites came and went. Communities formed and disappeared. Technologies became obsolete. Entire chapters of the early internet quietly vanished as servers were shut down and domains expired. We didn’t want this to become one of them.

What began as an experiment between two people eventually became something neither of us could have imagined. Friendships were formed across continents. Conversations lasted until sunrise. People celebrated marriages, mourned losses, shared triumphs, and found comfort in a community that grew one conversation at a time. Many of those moments were never captured by a camera. They lived in the people who were here. Those memories deserve more than a forgotten backup drive or an expired domain name.

So we’re rebuilding this place, not to recreate the past, because that’s impossible, but to preserve it honestly. To gather together the stories, photographs, diaries, music, artwork, conversations, and memories that tell the story of what this place was, and what it has become. This website is as much an archive as it is a living project.

Some pages look backward. Others look ahead. You’ll find pieces of our history alongside the things we’re creating today. Music. Photography. Writing. Personal reflections. New projects. Old friends. New visitors. They’re all part of the same story.

If people discover our music, enjoy our writing, or find inspiration in something we’ve created, we’re genuinely grateful. Creative work has always been meant to be shared. But those things are a result of rebuilding this site, not the reason for rebuilding it. The reason is much simpler.

We believe that stories matter.
We believe that friendships matter.
We believe that the early days of the internet deserve to be remembered by the people who helped shape them, not just by historians looking back decades from now.
Most of all, we believe that some things are worth preserving simply because they meant something to the people who lived them.
This website is our way of preserving those moments.
Not because they were famous.
Not because they were profitable.
But because they were real.
